This is write-up
for modern educated open minded rational people and neither for Muslim fanatics
nor for Islamophobes.
We may take two
rational stand and there is nothing wrong to it if taken personally and in
private circles as mankind needs religion psychologically and as it is said we
are wired to believe in God and religion.
1. We may say
there is no God
2. We may say
there may be God but no man is Prophet of God and no book is book of God.
But it will be quite
wrong to believe Moses as Prophet of God and not give same status to Jesus and Muhammad
as Jews are doing or to believe in Moses and Jesus and not give same status to
Muhammad as Christians are doing.
So most wrong
people of the World, Muslims, are right in believing all the three Prophets and
good sense must prevail upon Jews and Christians and they accord status of
Prophet to Muhammad.
Prophet of Islam
very gentle and courteous person was betrayed and maligned by his own people,
his companions and his two wives daughters of two companions.
He was not able
to save himself from undisciplined
behavior of his companions who used to
shout and swear and whisper in his company and Quranic verses had to meddle
with such a close affair. His two wives ruined his domestic life by two
scandals – when one wife left behind and allegation of illicit sex was leveled
upon her by nearby people and when he confided some private wish to one wife
she made a scandal of it. The tension reached to such an extent that again Quranic
verses had to meddle and divorce was suggested.
The son-in-law
Ali advised him to divorce those mischievous women that simple advice enraged
that woman so much that she got many things done to harm daughter of Pophet
through her father Caliph 1 and her close ally Caliph 2 and finally when Caliph
3 was assassinated by pople surrounding him for days and then people prevailed
upon Ali to become Caliph 4 to save Islam and Ummah, she waged war against Ali
on charge of revenge for blood of Caliph 3 that finally ended in her defeat and
disgrace.
Prophet wanted
to bring about total reform but he has to retreat many times because of his
same gentle nature.
When he migrated
to Medina perhaps from dawn to late night those cunning reactionary influential
men kept him surrounded. They used to raise controversies and used to prevail
upon to protect interests of reactionary feudal section.
One verse came
to maintain your divorced wife but then it got superseded by other verse that
deprives her.
In early days
when Muslims were weak and in minority in Medina the youth standing on roads as
usual used to tease Muslim women and then there is verse ‘ when you come out
put a veil upon your face’. And the
second verse is result of mischief of same man who became Caliph 2. Perhaps on
journey, a tall wife of Prophet had to go out for toilet at
dusk in camp meant for that. He recognized her from distance and shouted
‘ Sauda, O Sauda, I recognized you’ and then he came to Prophet and said ‘
Ummul Momoneen go out uncovered and people recognize them’. This is the source
of second command and there are only
these two commands.
In tribal Arab
there was different status of women, wives and daughters from what we
understand in modern World and same status is in rural and tribal areas still
today. So giving one minor daughter of one of several wives to marriage to some
powerful or great person is not something extraordinary. Still today many
families may marry their minor daughters say to some celebrity of Films or Sports or Business tycoon or
Prime Munister, President or King.
There were times
when well to do men and women used to put on heavy apparels keeping themselves
covered and women used to cover their heads and put on veils. The beard was also universal as shaving was
not in vogue nor things like safety razors were developed.
The circumcision
was practiced only by Jews.
The religion was
simply prayers, fasting, alms and pilgrimage.
The forays –
plunder of trading caravans was normal earning for people having no cultivable land
or home. Was it a crime in those days ? There were no governments and so no
taxation. The traders exploiting farmers and artisans were the power and wealth
in themselves- trading caravans between India and Arab were armies in
themselves. So survival in Medina was based upon these forays. And when Muslim
state got established under him the economy was zakat from Muslims and Jaziya
from people of Books – these are simply taxes that every government takes.
When Muslim
armies were easily winning in early forays, these selfish reactionary
influential persons remained joyfully in faith in his Prophethood. The reverses
in Oohad made them to bear serious doubts and they kept in waiting.
When those
two wives of Prophet transpired that he
is intending to make Ali his successor during his Hajj an assassination attempt
was plotted in Arafat by dropping a stone over him from a mountain but it
misfired and the lightning revealed the faces of conspirators.
Then prophet
declared Ali as his successor at Ghadeer.
Then back in
Medina he fell ill. He tried to send those two and other mischievous persons in
a foray but they did not go. Finally when noise and quarrels erupted in his
room last days he asked for paper and pen to write his will to save them from
fighting the man who became Caliph 2 said ‘this man is talking deliriously.’
After his death
on man was made Caliph 2 by deliberations of powerful group and then other
persons were demanded to take ‘bayt’- accept him his lord in matter of World
and religion Ali remained in his house.
Now they were
relieved of all doubts, he was bygone and they had usurped his legacy.
A group of men
under the man who was to become Caliph 2, surrounded house of daughter of
Prophet having burning torches and commanded to send Ali out or they will set
fire to house – meaning burn to death daughter of Prophet, her husband and her
children. This is not done even in case of absconded dangerous criminals. The
door was broken and Ali was brought to Caliph 1’s court.
Who knows Islam
better than Muhammad and Ali ? Is there any aalim, mufti, marjah of Islam to
know Islam better than Muhammad and Ali ?
When Caliph 1
was dying he made the man Caliph 2 as successor- Prophet had no right to choose
successor ? Then consensus was not sought. Caliph 2 made Jihad as fifth and most
important component of religion and started sending armies to invade and
conquer other countries.
When Muslim men
wanted to marry women of those countries they wished to marry women there . The women put the condition you divorce your wives sitting in your homes. The men thought by saying mere talaq three times nothing will happen and then women there married to them. When Caliph 2 came to know this instead of nullifying those marriages, decreed that verbal talaq is effective and binding thus he made genuine wives divorced. This is the gift from Caliph 2 that Sunnites are suffering to this day from evils of triple talaq.
When Caliph 2 was assassinated he made a cunning system of selection committee to bar Ali – thus wife of Prophet who was enemy of Ali remained pleased. Another son in law of Prophet was selected Caliph 3. He brought Umayyads to high posts and favored his family in distribution of earnings of Ummah. He was surrounded by people belonging to parts other then Medina and was assassinated.

Ali was prevailed upon by people to become
Caliph. Ali became Caliph but did not send any army and so all war spoils got
stopped and thus wealthy and powerful became his opponent. First his enemy and
wife of Prophet waged war against him. Then governor of Syria, an Umayyad and
relative of Caliph 3 staged rebellion.
From the time of
Caliph 3 a group of Muslims became Law in themselves and they interpreted Islam
in their own way and thus they are father of Wahhabism of today. They were
known as Kharijites – out of Ummah. The governor of Syria begged peace and Ali
acceded. So those people made Law that all Arbitration is in hands of Allah and
as Ali agreed to arbitration so he is Kafir and he must be killed.
Thus Ali was
assassinated. The Governor of Syria became Caliph by usurpation and Kharijites
were caught and killed but perhaps still surviving in some parts.
This Caliph 5 nominated his son who massacred grandson
of Prophet, and his companions. This Caliph 6 also attacked and plundered
Medina and Kaaba also suffered missiles thrown by his army.
The people gradually
became alienated from Umayyad rule. The descendant from family of Abbas uncle
of Prophet started rebellion against Umayyads calling for restoration of power
to house of Ali.
They, Abbasids, defeated and massacred Umayyads but after
coming to power they convened a consensus to establish peace that all actions
of Caliphs of first century were right. This is Sunnah al Jamah. This is the
birth of Sunnites. It means Yazid was also right and that is why someone or
other like Zakir Naike will keep on coming to say Yazid Razi Allahu Anahu .
In the meantime,
Clergies and religious scholars tried to make a body of Law and Ways to control
masses and also to put control over Caliphs. Ibne Timaiyya and others are its
architect. This is Shariah but it was return of male Arab savage whose only
interest was and still it is – to protect his wealth and women. It is
contradiction of Quran that tried to inculcate humility and kept denouncing men
who were arrogant of wealth and sons.
The Shariah, not
written, but understood as :
1. Beard for men
and circumcision
2. Veil for
women and they are not allowed to come out unaccompanied with male mahram relative
3. Medieval punishments
of slashing of wrists of thieves, death for adulteress and those and who are charged of becoming renegade or
heretic.
This Shariah
served interest of Arab Sheikhs and gave enormous power to ruler to silence all
opposition.
Then last
Abbasid caliph was killed by Halaku whom Sunnite scholars had invited to destroy
Fatimides Shia rule.
Then Caliphate
was restored and Ottoman Caliphate was established who used to control affairs
of Mecca and Medina through Egypt as governor.
In late 18th century, in line of
Ibne Timaiyya, Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab preached his ideology of strict
Islamic life. He was helped by a local ruler of some villages. After many
reverses, third generation of Sauds could make their kingdom in rural Arab. The
Mecca and Medina were looked after by Sharifs, Sunnites descendants of Ali,
under governorship of Egypt.
During World War
II, Ottoman empire got disintegrated. Mustafa Kamal Pasha of Turkey finished
Caliphate.
Britain had
protectorate over Arab it wanted to leave as there was nothing of interest
there. Britain had made mandate for Israel- home for Jews in Palestine.
Sharifs of Mecca
Medina did not make pact with Britain on this account while Saudis readily made
pact. Britain made Saudis king of whole Arab that became Saudi Arabia and left
in 1920.
Then oil was
struck. Everything changed- Middle East
became wealthy. Saudis are allies of US and UK and exporting Wahhabism and
funding terrorism. The terrorists involved in attack on WTC were Saudi
citizens.
This is what
happened to Prophet’s Islam.
Restoration
of true religion
1. The World
Muslims Organization must be formed and its Plenary session must make consensus
that consensus taken during Abbasid rule that ‘all the decisions taken and all
the Caliphs of first century were legitimate’ must be nullified. The Prophet’s
proclamation at Ghadeer Khum must be accepted by every Muslim and it must be
acknowledged that Caliphs 1, 2 and 3 usurped Islam and caused enormous harm to
religion.
2. The joint
World Semitic Religions Conference must be called and consensus taken that
Moses, Jesus and Muhammad were Prophets in the same sense.
3. The
arrangements at Mecca and Medina must be looked by WMO. The separate space and
time must be allotted if different sects wish to it or every sect must be
allowed to perform its ritual with full freedom collectively without
segregation.
4 Medieval
Laws must be repealed and laws at par with modern values and sensibilities must
be framed. Religion must be understood as Prayers, Fasting, alms and Pilgrimage.
